Q&A: If 90% of the “pure” essential oils out there are diluted or adulterated in some way then who is the other 10%?
Question by edie4ux: If 90% of the “pure” essential oils out there are diluted or adulterated in some way then who is the other 10%?
I have read, multiple times now that 90% of the “therapeutic” essential oils on the market are often diluted, extended, cut, or otherwise altered.
“Essential oils are considered neither food or drugs, so legislation in the United States around their sale and labeling is very lax. An oil may be labeled “100% pure organic essential oil” if at least 1% of the contents are 100% pure, organic essential oil.” The other 99% may contain filler base oils, synthetic esters, perfume, or other adulterants.
SO, my question is, who can you trust? What companies make up the 10% of PURE oils that are out there?
I do not necessarily believe that the higher the price the better the oil. A lot of these companies have mid range pricing, so is that bad? I hear that Young Living even dilutes their oils. My aunt highly suggests Be Young.
What are your opinions on,
Bella Mira?
Rocky Mountain Oils?
doTERRA?
Nature’s Sunshine?
Quintessence?
Mountain Rose Herbs? Super cheap, why???
TruEssence?
To my knowledge all of these companies complete GC/MS testing.
Any others that you would suggest?

You’re assuming that 10% of companies are producing pure products. Maybe you should establish the truth and origin of that statement first rather than going looking for an answer based on a statment that may not be true.
